Film Screening

In the aftermath of 9/11, unprecedented rescue, recovery, and relief efforts began at Ground Zero, where 1.8 million tons of debris filled what remained of the World Trade Center. In the subsequent weeks, this work was formalized and carried out by a variety of departments and agencies, including the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY), who managed debris removal at Ground Zero and cleaned all of lower Manhattan. 

This work formally ended on May 30, 2002. To commemorate the 21st anniversary of that milestone, and to honor the thousands who have died and become sick due to these efforts, we are offering special screenings of "An Invisible Act," chronicling the role of the Department of Sanitation in the unprecedented clean-up effort after 9/11.
