The New York Giants visited the 9/11 Memorial and Museum on Wednesday, Aug. 20, where players toured the museum and heard testimonials about 9/11.

Magazines. Food. Laundry detergent. Gun-cleaning supplies. Those are among the various items that Christie Coombs, whose husband Jeff Coombs died on Flight 11 on Sept. 11, 2001, is including in more than 25 care packages she’s sending to troops in Afghanistan.

“It was a weird day at school,” recalls Visitor Services Volunteer Maggie Jacobsen, who was among the many students in her third grade class to be picked up early on Sept. 11, 2001.

Jan Seidler Ramirez was brought on as the 9/11 Memorial Museum’s Chief Curator in 2006, but her collection of September 11th content began five years earlier, only a few hours after the attacks.
