Son of Fallen 9/11 Firefighter Joins Ranks of Father’s First Firehouse
On Monday, FDNY probationary firefighter Brendan Stackpole officially joined the firehouse where his late father, Capt. Timothy M. Stackpole, began his FDNY career.
Since he was a child, Stackpole was inspired by his father to serve in the FDNY, as told by the New York Daily News. He was sworn in on Friday to Ladder 147/Engine 281 in Brooklyn as part of the 295-member class, marking the FDNY’s 150th anniversary.
Last month, Stackpole and Matthew Asaro, the son of firefighter Carl Francis Asaro who was also killed on 9/11, laid a wreath in a tribute at the 9/11 Memorial honoring the 343 fallen members of the FDNY.
