Museum Exhibitions Honored with Leadership in History Award
On June 4, 2015, the American Association for State and Local History announced it selected the 9/11 Memorial Museum to receive its Leadership in History award.
The award aims to “establish and encourage standards of excellence in the collection, preservation and interpretation of state and local history in order to make the past more meaningful to all Americans,” according to AASLH.
The AASLH award is select museums across the country and is considered the most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of state and local history.
The exhibits in the 9/11 Memorial Museum honor the memory of those killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and the February 26, 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The museum is broken up into two main exhibitions, the Historical and Memorial Exhibitions, in order to encompass all aspects of the events of 9/11.
