Medal of Honor Recipient Visits Memorial
The 9/11 Memorial held a ceremony to honor the bravery of Medal of Honor recipient Ty Carter. 9/11 Memorial Museum Director Alice Greenwald greeted Carter and his wife, Shannon Carter, on the memorial plaza, along with New York City officials, military public affairs officers and members of the United War Veterans Council.
Army Staff Sgt. Carter was awarded the honor Monday at a White House ceremony. Here’s how CNN described his act of bravery in Afghanistan:
“Carter's daring efforts to rescue his fellow soldiers in the face of imminent death earned him the nation's highest military decoration.”
