Make a Difference by Volunteering at the Museum
Volunteering at the 9/11 Memorial Museum can be a meaningful experience for those who want to make a difference in somebody else’s life.
One volunteer, Eileen E., sent an email to the 9/11 Memorial after helping a woman find the name of her daughter in the In Memoriam section of the Museum during the Museum’s dedication week in May 2014.
“Today for the first time in 13 years, she has closure and joy as she spoke with Sarah today in this beautiful place of rest,” she wrote, adding, “She picked me to share this with and I am eternally grateful to Sarah’s mother.”
In addition, Pamela R., who worked as a volunteer one morning and then returned to the Museum as a guest that evening wrote an email to the Museum saying, “All told I spent about 10 hours in the 9/11 Memorial Museum yesterday, experiencing it from all different angles. I spent the day reassuring, directing, comforting and learning. I walked on the plaza and enjoyed the reflecting pools at night with their opulent light. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.”
